About the Team

About Chakira

My journey in public service is grounded in the values my parents instilled in me: hard work, tenacity, integrity, generosity and a commitment to giving back. These principles guide everything I do, whether I’m leading as an elected official or volunteering side-by-side with neighbors to improve our community.

Over the past 16 years, I’ve served as a Stone Mountain City Council member — including three terms as Mayor Pro Tem — and as a founding appointee of the Stone Mountain Downtown Development Authority, where I’ve held roles as chair, vice-chair and secretary. I also serve in leadership roles with the Stone Mountain Historical Society, the Stone Mountain Community Garden and on the ART Station board. Additionally, I’m a proud member of the Leadership DeKalb Class of 2020.

With more than 20 years of experience as a civil engineer in both the private and public sectors, I understand what it takes to create safe, economically vibrant and thriving communities. Now, I’m putting that knowledge to work for the people of District 4.
