January’s Special Guest speaker will be DeKalb County Tax Commissioner, Irvin Johnson.
Additional representatives from DeKalb service departments such as Sanitation, Roads & Drainage, Code and Law Enforcement and others will be present to provide updates and answer questions from the community.

Holiday Drive-Thru Food Distribution
DeKalb County is hosting a Holiday Drive-Thru Food Distribution on Saturday, December 20, 2025, offering free food to DeKalb County residents at six locations across the county while supplies last.
Distribution times vary by location, beginning as early as 8:00 a.m. This is a drive-thru event, and no registration is required.
📍 Locations include:
• New Birth Missionary Baptist Church – Stonecrest
• New Life Church – Decatur
• Berean Christian Church – Stone Mountain
• Saint Phillip AME – Atlanta
• Plaza Fiesta – Atlanta
• Rehoboth Baptist Church – Tucker
This effort is supported by DeKalb County Government, in partnership with community organizations, and hosted by Commissioner Chakira Johnson and CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson.
Please arrive early, follow on-site instructions, and share this information with neighbors who may need assistance this holiday season.
Countywide Drive-Thru Food Distribution
To support residents who may be experiencing food insecurity, DeKalb County will host a Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Food Distribution on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at six locations across the county.
DeKalb residents only. Food distribution will take place while supplies last, with no registration required.

Thanksgiving Food Distribution
Commissioner Chakira Johnson is proud to co-sponsor the Thanksgiving Food Distribution event along with Wade Walker Park Family YMCA, DeKalb County Chiefs’ Association, City of Stone Mountain Police, and Teaching-in-Motion, taking place Monday, November 17, beginning 11:00AM at the Wade Walker Park Family YMCA in Stone Mountain.

GDOT I-285 Eastside Express Lanes Project Open House
The Georgia Department of Transportation is hosting a Public Information Open House so residents can learn more about the I-285 Eastside Express Lanes Project
The proposed I-285 Eastside Express Lanes project will improve mobility on the eastern portion of I-285 in metro Atlanta and will connect to the Georgia Express Lanes network.

Chakira’s Cookout
Come join Commissioner Chakira Johnson & The District 4 Team for their inaugural cookout to celebrate Summer and get prepared for the upcoming school year! In addition to food, cold refreshments, and live entertainment including D Ron, the event will provide DeKalb District 4 students, their parents/guardians and teachers with educational supplies and services, such as school-required vaccinations and health screenings.

Special Guest Speaker:
Maria Houser, DeKalb County Director of Environmental Compliance, CIP, and Consent Decree
Maria Houser serves as the first Director of Environmental Compliance for DeKalb County, Georgia, as well as the Director of the Capital Improvement Program. In this role, she leads the implementation of the $1.5 billion sanitary sewer system improvements as required by the Consent Decree.
Representatives from DeKalb's service departments, including Sanitation, Roads & Drainage, Law Enforcement, and others, will be present to provide updates and answer questions from the community.
